Launch Ceremony of the Second Phase of Jockey Club Age-friendly City Project
The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) held the Launch Ceremony of the Second Phase of Jockey Club Age-friendly City Project on 28 November 2017 at D • Park in Tsuen Wan to officially announce the Project be expanded into a citywide campaign, extending its work from eight pilot districts in the first phase, namely Sha Tin, Tai Po, Central & Western, Wan Chai, Islands, Tsuen Wan, Kowloon City and Kwun Tong, to the remaining ten districts. HKJC will join hands with 18 District Councils to promote age-friendliness with a view to building an age-friendly Hong Kong which can cater for the needs of all ages.
Mr Leong Cheung, Executive Director, Charities and Community of HKJC; Mr Caspar Tsui, Under Secretary for Labour and Welfare and 200 representatives from District Councils, Elderly Commission, District Offices, Social Welfare Department, non-governmental organisations, community organisations, professional support teams of four universities and Project ambassadors attended the ceremony. At the ceremony, Project ambassadors shared their experience and learning of joining the ambassador activities. Participants of district-based programmes promoted the message of age-friendly city through performance shows in a cappella, drama and fitness exercise.
Exhibition booth and health stations were also set up to introduce the Project and the district-based programmes implemented in the eight pilot districts, as well as to provide information about self-management of older people's health situations, with a view to further enhancing the public's understanding on the age-friendly city concepts.
