Jockey Club Age-friendly City Project - Age-friendly Family

Key components:
  • Train elderly AFC Ambassadors by architect volunteers on basic knowledge and skills of home maintenance and the importance of home safety.
  • Conduct home visits and home safety assessment for elderly households in need by architect volunteers and elderly AFC Ambassadors, and distribute leaflets to the elderly to raise their awareness on home safety.
  • Review by architect volunteers on the home maintenance needs of each visited elderly household so as to provide a tailor-made home improvement plan for them.
  • Conduct home modification work for the elderly households in need, and provide information on home maintenance and home safety improvement.
  • Through community talks or exhibitions, elderly AFC Ambassadors to promote home safety to various organisations (e.g. elderly centres, youth centres or schools).
  • Organise reunions for elderly beneficiaries, volunteers and elderly AFC Ambassadors to review the programme via a highlight video and to present certificates of appreciation to architect volunteers and elderly AFC ambassadors, as well as to share their experiences as a conclusion of the programme.
