Jockey Club Age-friendly City Project - Public Forum on Age-friendly Transportation

To arouse public awareness on age-friendly city, Sau Po Centre on Ageing of The University of Hong Kong held the first Public Forum on Age-friendly Transportation on 4 August 2017 at The University of Hong Kong as part of the Jockey Club Age-friendly City Project ("JCAFC Project"). The forum provided a platform for speakers, stakeholders and members of the public to brainstorm ideas on how to improve and implement age-friendly transportation.

Over 300 stakeholders from government, academia, public transport operators, non-governmental organisations and elderly people took part in the public forum. The speakers of keynote presentation and panel discussion sessions include Professor Terry Lum, Head of the Department of Social Work and Social Administration of The University of Hong Kong; Dr. Lam Ching-choi, Chairman of the Elderly Commission; Professor Rebecca Chiu, Head of Department of Urban Planning and Design of The University of Hong Kong; Dr. Alain Chiaradia, Associate Professor, Department of Urban Planning and Design of The University of Hong Kong; Ms. Doris Leung, CEO of the Diamond Cab (HK) Ltd.; Dr. Pamela Leung, CEO of the Hong Kong Society for Rehabilitation; Mr. William Chung, Head of Operations of Citybus Limited & New World First Bus Services Limited; and Mr. Lai Gun Fat, representative of the Central and Western District Age-friendly Working Group. Elderly participants actively shared their thoughts and views on various public transport services, suggesting how more infrastructure and support could enhance road safety.
