To further promote age-friendly messages to different sectors in the city, The Hong Kong Jockey Club ("HKJC") Charities Trust has launched "Jockey Club Age-friendly City Partnership Scheme" (hereafter "the Scheme"). As the latest initiative under the Jockey Club Age-friendly City Project ("the Project"), it is the first age-friendly scheme in Hong Kong with the combined strength of different sectors, including the business sector and public bodies, in putting forward various age-friendly measures. The launch ceremony of the Scheme followed by a thematic forum was held on 7 June 2018 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Over 300 guests attended the event, including representatives from the business sector, Government departments, public organisations, social enterprises and non-governmental organisations. The Scheme's four supporting organisations (namely The Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, The Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong, The Federation of Hong Kong Industries and The Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce) and judging panelists, as well as the Project partners and ambassadors were also present to support the event.

Dr Law Chi-kwong, Secretary for Labour and Welfare and Mr Leong Cheung, Executive Director, Charities and Community of HKJC were the officiating guests of the ceremony to kick start the Scheme with the aim of encouraging companies and organisations to initiate age-friendly measures in their businesses and operations and join hands to build up an age-friendly culture catering for the needs of the elderly.  For more details, please visit the website of Jockey Club Age-friendly City Partnership Scheme.

Subsequent to the launch ceremony was the thematic forum on "Silver Market – The New Growth Engine for Hong Kong". Mr Stephen Wong, Deputy Executive Director and Head of Public Policy Institute, Our Hong Kong Foundation, moderated the discussion with panelists, including Mr Bernard Chan, Chairperson of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service; Mr Leong Cheung, Executive Director, Charities and Community of HKJC; Dr Lam Ching-choi, Chairman of Elderly Commission; Mr Shih Wing-ching, Chairman and CEO of Centaline Group; and Mr Albert Wong, CEO of Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, to analyse how Hong Kong should support the future development of silver market and its market potential.

Exhibition was set up at the venue to introduce the recent developments of the Project and the concepts of age-friendly city and showcase the achievements of some district-based programmes.
