Jockey Club Age-friendly City Project - Painless Living @ Tsuen Wan

Key components:
  • Interview and select suitable elderly people by social workers for receiving pain relief treatment from Chinese medicine practitioners.
  • Provide talks and guidance on healthy body and exercise to teach participants to stay healthy and reduce or avoid pain illness.
  • Assign social workers to manage individual elderly cases and assist them to practise self-management on pain, and provide professional counselling and arrange mutual help groups for elderly people with special needs.
  • Organise community workshops and promotional activities with the support of AFC Ambassadors to promote the concept of age-friendly community to different district stakeholders, including elderly people and their families, students and other community members. Through introducing the Jockey Club Age-friendly City Project, the eight domains of age-friendly city as identified by the World Health Organization, and the baseline assessment findings on age-friendliness of Tsuen Wan District, the community publicity aims to improve the elderly’s awareness in communication and information as well as social participation.
