Key components:
Interview and select suitable elderly people by social workers for receiving pain relief treatment from Chinese medicine practitioners.
Provide talks and guidance on healthy body and exercise to teach participants to stay healthy and reduce or avoid pain illness.
Assign social workers to manage individual elderly cases and assist them to practise self-management on pain, and provide professional counselling and arrange mutual help groups for elderly people with special needs.
Organise community workshops and promotional activities with the support of AFC Ambassadors to promote the concept of age-friendly community to different district stakeholders, including elderly people and their families, students and other community members. Through introducing the Jockey Club Age-friendly City Project, the eight domains of age-friendly city as identified by the World Health Organization, and the baseline assessment findings on age-friendliness of Tsuen Wan District, the community publicity aims to improve the elderly’s awareness in communication and information as well as social participation.
