Jockey Club Age-friendly City Project - New Vision 2.0

Key components:
  • Recruit and train AFC Ambassadors, and select more advanced and passionate members to take up leading and planning roles to put forward suggestions with age-friendly elements through regular meetings and sharing sessions.
  • Recruit volunteers of different ages from the community (including elderly people and young people) to take part in the professional drama training and conduct public performances in Islands District to promote the concept of age-friendly community.
  • Set up street booths to disseminate information on community services and utilise mobile information technology such as tablets to assist the elderly to access different types of information and make online bookings for public services.
  • Conduct home visits and home assessments for needy elderly who rarely go out to the community by professionals (e.g. occupational therapists), and provide home-based services by trained volunteers, including giving out information to the elderly, playing brain health games and teaching fitness exercises.
