Jockey Club Age-friendly City Project - Housing Improvement and Care Scheme for the Elderly in Tsuen Wan

Key components:
Provide minor home modification work to 300 elderly households of Tsuen Wan District with an aim to enhance home safety and improve the elderly's quality of living. Training will be provided to volunteers and home visits and assessments to elderly households will be conducted by occupational therapists or engineers. The volunteers will also distribute souvenir packs to the elderly. Based on the assessment results, the elderly can choose one of the following home modification works for their residential unit:
  • Installation of a handrail
  • Installation of a raised toilet seat
  • Replacement of 4 compact fluorescent light-bulbs / fluorescent tubes
  • Installation of 1 lighting (surface-mounted)
  • Tuning of television antenna for one time
  • Wall re-painting (total area should be within 1 square meter, without removing plaster)

Approved funding:$359,700 (including home modification works for 300 households and an expense of $1,000 for each household)
