Jockey Club Age-friendly City Project – “Small Changes in the Community, Big Improvement in Age-friendliness” Ambassador Achievement Ceremony

The Jockey Club Age-friendly City Project – “Small Changes in the Community, Big Improvement in Age-friendliness” Ambassador Achievement Ceremony was held on 2 May 2023. Prof Joshua Mok Ka-ho, Vice President of Lingnan University, Prof Chan Chak-kwan, Director of the Asia-Pacific Institute of Ageing Studies of Lingnan University, and representatives of NGOs joined the event with more than 130 Project Ambassadors to celebrate and recognise their achievements.

Prof Mok and Prof Chan presented “Ambassador Facilitator” badges and certificates of recognition to Project Ambassadors, and commended their active participation in the ten-month Project Ambassador training programme, and their enthusiastic planning and successful execution of the “Small Changes in the Community, Big Improvement in Age-friendliness” community projects, which is a good example of promoting a bottom-up, district-based approach and contributes to the sustainable development of an age-friendly city.

During the event, the Project Ambassadors shared their experiences and reflections on the community projects. The social worker from the participating NGO emphasised that elderly’s active participation was crucial to the success of community projects as they understood the needs of the community.
