Jockey Club Age-friendly City Project – Home Safety and Living Improvement Project (Islands, Kowloon City and Sai Kung)

Key components:
  • Recruit volunteers as AFC ambassadors and provide training on home visit skills and knowledge of home safety.
  • Conduct assessments on the physical fitness and home environment of the elderly people by social workers and occupational therapists / physiotherapists to identify cases in need in Islands, Kowloon City and Sai Kung.
  • Carry out home modification or improvement work for elderly people (e.g. installing anti-fall home devices, re-arranging / replacing / adding home furniture, pest control and tidy-up exercise) by technicians / volunteers to improve safety and cleanliness of their living environment.
  • Produce booklets to share the programme achievements and promote the importance of home safety and age-friendliness for distribution to community organisations and elderly people.
