Jockey Club Age-friendly City Project - Little Star by Aged

Key components:
  • Produce leaflets on the available community support services in Tai Po, and promote these services to increase information accessibility for the elderly in the district.
  • Recruit elderly people and community members to undertake volunteer trainings to understand the concept of elderly-friendly community, elderly communication skills, home safety and nutrient intake assessments, etc.
  • Organise “Community Game Day” to provide practical opportunities for the trained volunteers and a chance for the elderly to widen their social circles by leaving their living places and interacting with others.
  • Organise “Community Service Day” to provide assistance to the elderly in need of tackling their daily-life difficulties, such as buying daily necessities, transition service and escort to medical appointment, etc.
  • Provide professional support services to the elderly in need who have participated in the “Community Service Day” / “Community Game Day”, such as occupational therapy and physiotherapy services.
  • Organise a community sharing session for elderly participants, volunteers and community stakeholders to evaluate the programme effectiveness and advise the areas for further improvement.
